Senior government officials in Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Tuesday launched a major cleanliness drive in Daringbadi, just days before the much-awaited Daringbadi Winter Festival, scheduled from January 8 to January 11.
The drive was carried out to make sure the popular hill station looks clean, green and welcoming as it prepares to host a large number of tourists during the festival season.
Top Officials Join Morning Clean-Up Drive
The cleanliness campaign was led by Daringbadi Block Development Officer (BDO) Pritiranjan Rath and Tahasildar Dhiraj Patra. Both officials were seen actively taking part in the drive early in the morning.
Wearing masks and holding brooms, they cleaned public roads, tourist spots and common areas, working shoulder-to-shoulder with local residents. Their hands-on participation sent a strong message about the importance of cleanliness and community involvement.

“Through our campaign ‘Clean Daringbadi, Green Daringbadi’, we want both locals and visitors to respect nature and help preserve the environment,” Rath added.

Tahasildar Dhiraj Patra echoed similar views, stressing that keeping Daringbadi clean is not the job of one person or department alone.
“This is a collective effort, not an individual one. Under the motto ‘Clean Daringbadi, Green Daringbadi’, everyone has a role to play in maintaining cleanliness,” he said.
Thanking those who joined the drive, Patra pointed out that thousands of tourists from across Odisha and other states visit Daringbadi during winter, making it crucial to keep the area clean and attractive.
