An HPV vaccination camp was organized in Visakhapatnam for girl children of police personnel and home guards aged 9 to 14 years.
The camp was held on Saturday (December 13, 2025) at the Police Conference Hall. It was jointly organized by Natco Trust, Lions Club of Vizag, and NGO Chaitanya Sravanthi.
Police Commissioner Shanka Bratha Bagchi, who inaugurated the camp, said he hopes that the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine will soon be included in the national immunization program of the Center.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Bagchi praised Dr. Shirin Rahaman, president of Chaitanya Sravanthi, for starting the vaccination drive. He said the police department plans to organize a rally on Beach Road soon to create awareness among the public about cervical cancer.
The Police Commissioner also urged NGOs and social service organizations to conduct health camps for other diseases such as hepatitis, pneumonia, and typhoid. He said police personnel work round the clock and are often exposed to different weather conditions, which makes health care very important for them and their families.
The camp focused on early prevention and saw participation from families of police staff, highlighting the importance of vaccination and health awareness.
